An Introduction to Gnosis
Gnosis is a Greek word that means direct experiential knowledge, a knowing of internal truths, not only theories and ideas but reality. This word is used in a broad way to describe a fundamental body of teachings of perennial wisdom which is found at the base of every esoteric school and at the roots of all world religions, these teachings indicate the way of self realisation, radical transformation and the complete liberation of the soul from this present conditioned state.
This Gnosis was unveiled in recent times by the Colombian Master Samael Aun Weor. In over sixty books and many conferences he gave the profound keys of Gnostic inner initiation with its three factors for the revolution of consciousness. The three factors are aspects of wisdom, which need to be studied and applied if a person desires awakening and self realisation. The first is the mystical death, this implies that we need to know ourselves deeply, to discover all the hidden factors of our subconscious psychology symbolised in various religions as demons, formations of the mind and the seven capital sins. These individually and collectively create the present situation on this planet with all its glittering horrors of war and crime.
The process of self knowledge through the observation of our psychological defects leads in time with much perseverance to their elimination which frees the pure essence that they trap in their conditioned patterns, this is the death of me, myself, the I.
The second factor is the second birth. As our vices are comprehended and dissolved the virtues, qualities and gifts of the spirit are created. This work is intimately related with the creative energies within each of us. These energies are not only for the procreation of the species; their esoteric purpose is the creation of the vehicles of the soul, the higher spiritual bodies. Love is the divine energy of transformation; the path of initiation is based on love, purification, the awakening of the sacred serpent and the chakras. This leads to the immortality and complete connection to our inner divinity.
The final aspect of the three factors of consciousness is sacrifice. All the prophets, avatars and messengers have always sacrificed themselves for suffering humanity. It is necessary for any initiate to dedicate themselves to the service of God and our fellow humans. When we give selflessly we receive the compassion and help of divinity. In this form we progress little by little on the path of knowledge, advancing more and more in our comprehension of the deepest purpose of this miraculous existence.
Obviously this is
the briefest outline of the Gnostic knowledge, the details of the practices,
disciplines and maps of the way need to be studied and applied. For this reason
the Shamanic and Ecological Association UK has many different forms of expression,
conferences, ceremonies, music, storytelling and communal life. We are working
within this knowledge and seeking those of a like mind to collaborate with us
in these dark days of spiritual bankruptcy, egotism and gross materialism we
are working for a spiritual and natural revolution of consciousness.
